Mothers and Daughters

Mothers and Daughters

For centuries this battle has been going on. Hardest battle to loose or win…

The mother is simply the most loved and hated by her daughters.

A very complex relationship. One that leaves a lasting impression upon the future. Many swear to never become like their mothers; including me… and we see that this may not become.

I myself, have had a deep wounding as a child and as I grew - it grew with me. At times I have thought, “Do I hate her more than i love her?” In my practice, as a regression therapist, I have come to discover that the wounding is collective in nature. A similar thread running through the emotions of those who have come to understand what is the long standing contract they have with the one who has brought you into the world.  Some stories are dark and vicious - to the point of murder, others of overbearing  or of being self-absorbed. However, this is just the first veil of past life associations.

Humour me… lets look at the quote; “ All the world is a stage, and all the men and women merely players. One man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages.” Yes, you need to see the whole quote. There are many layers in this quote but I am just gonna point to the part that says “One man in his time plays many parts “

Through time that has come to pass, the two souls (one the mother and the other the daughter) in this current time have had a former contract to be soulmates. Unlike the popular understanding of the soulmate (singular), we have many soulmates. Each of them take a very significant role in our life time and time again. Of course, this will mean that you must have some belief that we are eternal souls and that we have had many lives. If that’s difficult, simply use this as a story to help you see some sense in the battle of the mother and daughter. Often my clients want to know:- “What is the purpose of my mother in my life? Why is she my mother?”

Roles are often shuffled and sometimes when the lessons are learned we may become best friends or soul-sisters in another life. Take a close look at the soulmates (especially the soul-sisters) in your life . From time to time; they do rough you up, challenge you to step out of your comfort zone, etc. You can never fully disconnect from them. But apart from just challenging you, they are the ones that hold space for you, ready to guide you in your darkest hour. Such is the mother. She is your soulmate! You, her soul-sister! There is a lesson to learn - a karmic cycle to be fixed. If you resist it in this life, she will follow you into your next … The choice is yours. Well, actually, it wont be much of choice :)

My personal wounding has haunted me all my life till I explored what my past life relationship with my mother was. The transformation that it brought me is something that I am most thankful for. Though my mother thinks otherwise (she thinks she need to fix it!) - such is the battle.

Do you often, like some of my clients want to know whats the purpose of my mother in my life? Why is she my mother?

  2. My experience is not good enough. We keep on finding faults in each other. She is very much alive. Sometimes I am grateful for all the choices she made for me, like my school, my teachers. She interferes in my decisions and always looks down on me. I have started hating her. Sometimes I realise that if I don't settle my karmic account, I am meeting her again. So I am trying to finish from my side. I don't want to meet her again in my future lives.
